live pictures

as soon as i looked up,

he was standing by my side

and i hadn’t been that

close to him before.

i was so happy walking

that beach at night,

i didn’t know what

to do with myself.

and when we sat down

on the beach after 10pm

with a few inches apart,

you let me talk your ear off.

your laugh still rings in my mind. 

i’m thankful for live photos,

because now i get a 3 second glimpse

into that night i won’t forget.

i have 3 little words you said to me

still living in that picture on my phone.
